Physical Therapy

The purpose of physical therapy is to prevent, identify, alleviate and correct acute and prolonged movement dysfunction. The department is staffed by licensed physical therapists, physical therapist assistants and other support staff. Treatments include:

Evaluation,
Exercise,
Post-operative therapy,
Manual therapy,
Heat and cold therapy,
Ultrasound,
Gait training,
Sports medicine,
Isokinetics,
Laser/anodyne,
Comprehensive wound care services,
Mechanical traction,
Manual therapy,
Functional training and

Cardiac Rehabilitation

Cardiac Rehabilitation is a program that helps patients improve their heart health by changing their lifestyle. Our program is run by a team of medical professionals who are specially trained to treat people with heart disease. Patients are taught skills to manage heart disease both now and in the future.

Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation starts after a patient has had a heart attack, coronary angioplasty or stents, open-heart surgery, valve repair/replacement or heart transplant.

Stress Testing

Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital offers exercise and chemical stress tests Monday through Friday performed by a board certified cardiologist and other trained physicians. Myocardial Perfusion scanning is completed in the Nuclear Medicine Department.

Pulmonary Rehabilitation

This program will teach patients to live and breathe better with chronic lung disease. Our program is run by a team of medical professionals, who are specially trained to treat patients with lung disease. Our comprehensive approach includes:

Education about pulmonary diseases
Lifestyle changes
Incorporation of mild physical activity
Management of the psychological effects of a patient's condition

Adult Fitness

Adult Fitness is a prevention and wellness program offered to the community on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 am to 11:00 am. The program takes place in the Cardiac Rehabilitation Department on the ground floor and has medical professionals available during sessions.

The program is designed to improve and maintain a patient's overall health, promote risk reduction, and improve quality of life.
